Congratulations to Bridget Cale, our Mischief Member of the Month for July, 2023! Bridget is a frequent participant of the 5:30 AM class and has made it a part of her daily routine for over 6 years. Bridget pushes herself to complete as many daily workouts as RX each week that she can, and always has her sights on achieving new goals. Whether that be getting a new movement, a new lifting PR, competing in a competition, and or most recently doing the Murph unpartitioned. Bridget is always prioritizing her fitness, and this continues to improve her life both, physically and mentally!
What motivated you to start CrossFit?
While browsing Facebook, I came across an advertisement for CrossFit Mischief. At the time, I wasn't familiar with what CrossFit was. I had been attempting to exercise at home, after work with my three children who were 10, 8, and 3, but it was quite chaotic. So I decided to respond to the Facebook ad. I needed a gym to go to.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
6.5 years
How has CrossFit improved your daily life?
CrossFit has improved my daily life by improving my self-confidence, mental toughness, and overall fitness level. The same approach I apply to the difficult WODs, I apply to work and life. One rep, one schedule, one day at a time.
How do you stay consistent with your training?
I attend the same class each day at 5:30am. What began as a habit quickly became an ingrained lifestyle. My day starts at 4am and ends about 10pm. Some mornings are hard to get going and sleeping in would be nice, but I don't. I get up and go. I have never regretted attending the 5:30am class.
What do you like most about CrossFit Mischief?
The coaches, the members, class size, and programming. The coaches are very knowledgeable and approachable. They have the ability to break down some of the complex barbell techniques into simple terms. They have the ability to say that one 'cue' to make the movement 'click'. The class size isn't so large so I always feel like I get personalized attention. The members provide a very encouraging and positive environment. The WODs are programmed to challenge the beginner to the advanced athlete. This year I did Murph un-partitioned. I didn't specifically train for it, yet I was prepared due to the daily programing of CFM. In addition, Kelle from the 5:30am class acted as my personal coach and encouraged me through each and every rep. It's just a great place.
What is one goal you hope to achieve with joining CrossFit?
When I first joined I didn't have any goals I just wanted to do something good for myself. I started with 3x's a week. Shortly after that I started setting goals. I upped my membership to unlimited. From there, I remember my first goal was to RX the WODs each day for a whole week. That was really hard, but I did it. Now my goal is a strict ring muscle up and hitting a 150 power clean.
Favorite CrossFit exercise?
Any movement on the rig like pull ups, chest to bar, toes to bar, muscle ups.
Favorite healthy snack?
A toasted English muffin with peanut butter and strawberry preserves.
Favorite cheat food?
I don't believe in a 'cheat food'. Anything in moderation is good. I do love a cannoli once in a while.
One Interesting fact about yourself?
I like to binge-watch old shows like Magnum Pi, the Golden Girls, and Threes Company.
