November 2025 Member of the Month: Patrick

Patrick started CrossFit in 2012 and has been a model of consistency, rarely missing a workout. Recently, he achieved two major milestones: a 505lb back squat PR and mastering bar muscle-ups!

You’ll usually find Pat in the early morning classes (5:30 or 6:45 AM), cracking jokes, keeping the vibe fun, and always ready to lend a hand to a fellow member.

Congratulations, Pat, on being CrossFit Mischief’s November Athlete of the Month!

What motivated you to start CrossFit?

I had been a multi-sport athlete from kindergarten through high school. Like most, my 'athletic career' ended at 18. I tried to stay active through college and got into 'bodybuilding' but the rigorous engineering curriculum didn't leave much time for that. After graduation and a few years into my career I turned into a marshmallow. I missed the competitive aspect those sports offered. A coworker introduced me to CrossFit and I was hooked after my first class.

How long have you been doing CrossFit?

I started in 2012

How has CrossFit improved your daily life?

Do you mean the constant sore muscles? Or?? All kidding aside, exercise is the closest we'll ever get to the fountain of youth. Staying active and fit is the best medicine we have.

How do you stay consistent with your training?

There are dozens of quotes about 'investing in yourself' that are much more eloquent than anything I could ever come up with. I'm sure the majority refer to improving your education and skills, but your health is just as important. Youth is fleeting and staying strong and healthy is the best way I know of to make it last. There's a joke in our household that we squat now so we can get up from the toilet when we're 80.

What do you like most about CrossFit Mischief?

The coaching staff is great. They're kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable.

What is one goal you hope to achieve with joining CrossFit?

I will get that ring muscle-up once this forearm heals... ;)

Favorite CrossFit exercise?

I love the Olympic lifts and power lifts. If I had to choose one it'd definitely be back squat.

Favorite healthy snack?

Does coffee count?? I'm not much of a snacker, I just try to eat real/whole foods throughout the day.

Favorite cheat food?

I have a sweet-tooth... I love Reese's peanut butter cups, ice cream, cake, etc. Anything with sugar... I don't eat the sweet treats very often but when I do, I try to make sure they still fit within my macronutrient allowances for that day. IIFYM (if it fits your macros (eat it!!!))

One Interesting fact about yourself?

I've been a certified scuba diver for 20 years!

I recently restarted CrossFit after a 6 year hiatus. I tried several different gyms, but just couldn’t find my community… until I walked into CrossFit Mischief. This is a great group of humans all around. From the coaches to the members. Eve

I visited the gym a few days as a Drop In while traveling through the area. Very friendly and welcoming coaches and members. I will definitely come back next time I’m in the area.
