December 2025 Member of the Month: Mary

Mary joined CrossFit Mischief in 2023 and, at the time, admitted she hated cardio… we’re still working on making her love it, but at least she no longer shies away from those workouts! 💪

After relocating to a new town, Mary took a break from the gym. When faced with a health scare, she realized the last time she truly felt mentally and physically strong was when she was doing CrossFit. Through consistent training at CrossFit Mischief, Mary is prioritizing her health—both body and mind—so she can stay strong, happy, and be the best mom, wife, and version of herself.

We’re proud to recognize Mary for her perseverance, commitment, and determination. Keep crushing it, Mary!

What motivated you to start CrossFit?

I always assumed I was someone who did not enjoy exercising, and was previously only motivated to exercise during phases of my life when I wanted to lose weight ( ex-postpartum). I was tired of hating exercise and wanted to try something that focused more on building strength and pushing me out of my comfort zone. I left the gym after I moved, and ended up dealing with a serious health scare. I had gotten myself to such a dark place and realized that the last time I truly felt mentally and physically strong/healthy was when I was doing CF and thankfully rejoined! :)

How long have you been doing CrossFit?

I started in 2023, took a break and rejoined this year!

How has CrossFit improved your daily life?

CrossFit has greatly impacted my physical and mental health! I put my career on hold once I had children and have spent many years only focusing on my kids and my home. CF has provided me with goals, challenges and community that have been instrumental to my emotional and mental well-being!

How do you stay consistent with your training?

On days where I don't feel motivated, I always remind myself that I have never regretted coming to a class, but always regret when I skip.

What do you like most about CrossFit Mischief?

I love the coaches and members! Everyone is so kind, welcoming and supportive. It doesn't matter if you're the first to finish a workout, or the last, everyone is always so encouraging and celebrates everyone's wins!

What is one goal you hope to achieve with joining CrossFit?

Exercise goal would be to finally get a pull-up and/or T2B.

Favorite CrossFit exercise?

Handstand push ups

Favorite healthy snack?

Honey Crisp apples with peanut butter

Favorite cheat food?

A big, salty, hot pretzel with nacho cheese!

One Interesting fact about yourself?

Before becoming a stay at home mom, I worked as a social worker in a Juvenile Detention Center in Brooklyn, NY.

I recently restarted CrossFit after a 6 year hiatus. I tried several different gyms, but just couldn’t find my community… until I walked into CrossFit Mischief. This is a great group of humans all around. From the coaches to the members. Eve

I visited the gym a few days as a Drop In while traveling through the area. Very friendly and welcoming coaches and members. I will definitely come back next time I’m in the area.
