Jonathan started CrossFit in high school and fell in love with it right away. After joining CrossFit Mischief in 2025, he’s continued to bring that same love for CrossFit to the gym, consistently showing up 5 days a week and putting in the work.
And if you’ve ever worked out with Jonathan, you’ve probably heard about the “victory lap.” 😂 His philosophy? The last round doesn’t count, so it can’t hurt — which means you might as well push as hard as you can and finish strong!
His consistency, positive attitude, and ability to always have a little fun while putting in the work make him a great part of the Mischief community.
Congratulations, Jonathan!
What motivated you to start CrossFit?
I started CrossFit my junior year of high school in 2013 as an alternative morning gym class so I could take more electives. I ended up loving the workouts and the movements and it has stuck with me ever since.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I did CrossFit in high school from 2013-2015, but stopped in college. I didn’t do CrossFit when I went back to the gym in 2019, but I would mimic my workouts to be similar to CrossFit. Then finally in 2025 I officially came back to CrossFit.
How has CrossFit improved your daily life?
I can really feel my overall mood improve after an intense workout. The worse a workout looks the better I feel after knowing I was able to push my limits.
How do you stay consistent with your training?
I see working out as part of my daily life, not something I can skip if I want to. If I can’t make my normal class time I will find time to either go into another class or go in on my own to do the workout. Also the last round of any workout doesn’t actually count, it isn’t real and cannot hurt you so give it your all!
What do you like most about CrossFit Mischief?
Everyone is trying their best to improve. It doesn’t matter if someone is pushing 300lbs on a movement or trying to use the bar, everyone is always working to get better at all skill levels. Makes the workout more enjoyable.
What is one goal you hope to achieve with joining CrossFit?
I want to increase the number of workouts I can do Rx/Rx+. I drop the weight/change the movement when I need to but I hope to get stronger so I can do any workout as prescribed.
Favorite CrossFit exercise?
Bar or ring muscle ups. I’ve worked on these for years and have just started to be able to cycle a few bar muscle ups and consistently get 1 ring muscle up at a time.
Favorite healthy snack?
Sushi is healthy, right?
Favorite cheat food?
I love the desserts from melt and dip but can only go there once every few months because of how insanely big they are
One Interesting fact about yourself?
I did theater in high school and went bald and was dressed in drag for it
